Private Cu Chi Tunnels and Farming Full day tour

IMPORTANT NOTES:

Cu Chi is a district of Ho Chi Minh (Saigon).

There are 2 different sites for visiting : Ben Dinh site and Ben Duoc sites, both of which are managed by the military.

Ben Dinh is in the list of regular tours for 90% of travel agents in Saigon and it’s usually very busy and touristy. It’s 40km (25 miles) from Saigon downtown (by google maps) but it takes 1.5 hours to get there.

Ben Duoc is real and authentic, 60 km (37 miles) from Saigon downtown (by google maps) but it takes 2 hours to get there. What makes Ben Duoc more authentic are : a sample of a peaceful village in war with local markets, barber’s shop, grocery stores, houses, and local restaurants; very few tourists; most parts are reserved at their original sizes and statuses; and there is a temple to worship the late soldiers.

For this tour we chose Ben Duoc site.

ESTIMATED DETAILED TIMINGS

• 7.30 AM: guide picks up at hotel and drive to Cu Chi tunnels with interesting talks about the Vietnam history
• 9.30 AM: Arrive Ben Duoc Tunnels – visit the tunnels in 1 hour 
• Things that you will surely see and get told during the visit:

• Secret entrances
• Personal fighting bunker
• Booby traps / Bamboo spikes
• Termite mounds, camouflaged finely as a ventilation hole
• Display of self-made traps from bomb shells by VC soldiers
• Shooting range – where you can buy real bullets to experience shooting
• Models of VC soldiers
• Fighting trenches
• Military workshops
• Military uniform bunker
• Taste tapioca food – which is a common food for Vietcong soldiers 

• 10.30 AM: Get in our car and we will move to a sample village of Cu Chi in wartime. Right here you will immerse yourself in a simple but happy village in war. A barber shop, a school, a family raising ducks and planting rice, a local market and things like that. You will get to know more about the locals’ life during the war time. 

• 11.30 AM : Get on car, drive 30 mins to lunch at a local restaurant with set menu in one hour 

• 1.00 PM: Get in the car and drive to Cu Chi high-tech farm. Right here, you will get into the real experience as a real farmer. 
  • You will learn and practice how to grow and harvest mushrooms, vegetables and rice. 
  • By this way, you will get to know more about Vietnam’s agricultural products and way of life. 

• 3.00 PM: Get in our car and drive back to Saigon.
• 5.00 PM : Arrive Saigon, and the Tour ends.

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE TOUR:

• Tips for guide and driver (suggested 20 USD for guide and 10 USD for driver per group) if they do a good job. Please don’t be stressed about it, you can give whatever you feel happy with or none.
